Natural Newborn Photography in Margate, Kent with a Big Family of Six – Studio to Sea.

This is where our session began – in my Margate studio, after their drive down from London. They arrived with their new baby boy, the fourth in their beautiful family – their third son. Such a blessing. These sessions are always low-pressure, so when the youngest wasn’t feeling his best, he chose to cuddle Daddy during the studio portion. We knew he’d perk up once we reached Botany Bay and join in the fun there.

I’m going to formally introduce you to the studio soon but here we have dreamy tones, a depth and wabi-sabi styling to bring emotion and poise to your photos.

Just a mama, sitting in front of another Mama who understands the chaos and joy of a bigger family - asking her to get ONE good photo of them all together. Haha.

These are the kinds of newborn photography session details I like for, the curl of mamas hair, the gentle hand as baby breastfeeds. Pure bliss.

With sunset drawing closer, we bundled into cars and headed down to the beach—just five minutes from my Margate studio. Mama and baby had a quick outfit change, and honestly, the soft blue set she chose was divine. It was the perfect summer tone to complement the golden warmth of Botany Bay’s cliffs and sand. This is where thoughtful styling becomes so important. If you're booking a family or newborn session, don't let styling be an afterthought—it’s one of the things that elevates your photographs from good to timeless, cool, and full of personality.

This was our fourth session together, and by now I take a hands-off approach when it comes to direction, because I know this family has such a strong sense of style. And once again, Mama absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Knowing how comfortable they’ve become in front of the camera, I brought along a few simple props—some paper airplanes—to gently add something playful to the mix. It’s a subtle, non-invasive way to introduce a bit of movement and wonder into the shoot, especially for siblings. One of the joys of working with families over time is watching the energy shift and grow. While every session is different, there’s a beautiful continuity too—our last shoot was only a few months earlier, when we documented her lovely fourth bump during a golden-hour maternity session. Now, here we were again, completing the story with their newborn boy.

As kids push out of the toddler ages a little focus and play is super fun to shift up the session.

We ended the session with just Mum, her daughter, and the new baby boy, captured in the soft, golden light that Kent’s beautiful landscapes often gift us. A few dandelions from nearby Botany Bay became the perfect last-minute idea. Big sister didn’t hold back—she blew her wishes straight over Mum and her baby brother, giggling as the seeds floated everywhere. It was such a fairytale moment, but in that wonderfully real way. A little bit wild, a little bit chaotic, and completely magical—just like family photography sessions in Margate tend to be. These are the bits I love most—when it’s less about posing and more about connection, play, and the little stories that unfold naturally in the stunning outdoor settings Kent has to offer.

Lastly we took a quiet moment for mama and her new baby son, in the magical fairy rock pools - Botany Bay, Kent is so well known for. The chalky cliffs and rock formations make for such pretty and wildlife filled pools.

Mama’s deserve a pause. A moment for them with their baby - life with 4 is amazing but it’s also busy. To surrender and be with your baby for even 15 minutes and then to have a memoir to last a lifetime after - dreams. Here’s where the blue of her outfit really stepped up the images, the perfect cool early sunset sky, against their skin and Mamas red hair. The quiet end to a busy session.
